Senior GL Accountant

Location: South San Francisco, CA

Position Purpose

The Senior GL Accountant oversees day-to-day accounting operations and month-end close. Responsible for meeting deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation and financial reporting. Responsible for assisting in maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements and ICFR audits.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a large portion of the month end close process, including timely invoice approval
  • Prepare and review month end reconciliations of Balance Sheet accounts and journal entries
  • Ensure quality of work products and compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements
  • Prepare and maintain the analysis for R&D accruals and prepaids, including regular updates with business owners
  • Assist with clinical and CMC accruals and prepaids financial analysis
  • Ensure accurate and timely monthly, quarterly and year end close
  • Assist with financial statement audits and financial planning & analysis
  • Assist with any ERP automation projects to streamline processes in department
  • Assist accounting team on ad-hoc reporting and special projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • 3+ years in Public Accounting or equivalent month end experience
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred
  • Big 4 Public Accounting experience, preferred
  • Ability to manage independently and partner with others to obtain results
  • Strong collaboration skills, with a strong “client service” focus
  • Proven ability to think strategically
  • Proven experience motivating a productive and cohesive team that consistently exceeds expectations
  • An attitude of “continuous improvement” and constant desire to improve efficiencies
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Ability to manage internal and external client expectations
